FAQs
1. How many UC PIQs will this service cover?
UC requires 4 PIQ responses, each up to 350 words, selected from 8 prompts. This service is designed to help you with all four required PIQs—from topic selection through final refinement, as per the scope you define on the product page.
2. Will you write the essays for me?
No, admissions offices expect essays to be written in the student’s own voice. Our counselors guide, brainstorm, outline and edit, but you remain the author of every sentence.
3. What if I already have UC PIQ drafts?
If you already have drafts, the counselor will first review them, then suggest structural and content changes to strengthen them or propose better prompt/story matches if needed. You still get the same strategic and feedback process, just starting from your existing work.
4. How important are UC PIQs compared to grades and activities?
PIQs are a major part of UC’s holistic review and often act as your “voice” since UCs typically do not conduct interviews. Strong PIQs can significantly enhance how admissions officers interpret your academic record and activities.
5. When should I start this service?
The best time is early in 12th grade or several weeks before UC deadlines so you have time for brainstorming, drafting and at least one full revision cycle. Starting early reduces stress and usually results in deeper, more thoughtful essays.
