FAQs
1. Why can’t I just pick any four UC PIQs?
Technically you can, but UC advises you to select questions that are most relevant to your experience and that best reflect your circumstances. Choosing poorly can lead to repetitive or weak essays that don’t fully use your strongest stories.
2. How many UC PIQs are there and how many do I answer?
There are 8 Personal Insight Question prompts, and you must answer any 4 of them, each up to 350 words. This service helps you choose which 4 give you the best platform to shine.
3. Does the report tell me exactly what to write?
No, it does not write essays for you, but it gives you a ranked prompt list, recommended 4 prompts and specific experience ideas to use for each. You still write in your own voice, using the report as a strategic guide.
4. Will this make my essays look similar to other students using the service?
No, because the ranking is driven by your unique profile and experiences, the recommended prompts and story pointers will differ from student to student. UC PIQs are also highly personal, so your voice and details will keep your essays distinct.
5. Can I override the recommended prompts if I strongly prefer another question?
Yes, the report is a strategy tool, not a rule book. If a different prompt genuinely inspires a stronger, more specific story, you can absolutely choose it while still using the insights from your ranking.
